There's a lot to like in Lila Monroe's You've Got Mail. It's based on a great movie story that's been made at least 3 times successfully. And it's got food. Lots of food. I like food. My cholesterol levels prove it. So it was a no-brainer to read the book and I wasn't disappointed.Instead of dueling music store employees (the first 2 movies) or dueling book store owners (the most recent movie) we get dueling food truck owners in San Francisco. Both are talented chefs who can sling it with the best. Until they find themselves competing for the best locations in town. Then they'll do anything they can to succeed, including fall in love.
Lila Monroe uses the original movie stories well. But she doesn't completely follow the movie scripts, which is great. Her adaptation is fun, sweet and sexy, unlike the movies. The setting is great and as I said before, you can't go wrong with food in your story. I only wish she'd added some of Zoey and Cam's recipes to the book. I could use a good brunch.
Definitely add this one to your brunch menu. You won't be disappointed.

You've Got Male Chick Flick Club Book 2 eBook Lila Monroe Reviews
Zoey Rafferty has poured her heart and soul into making her brunch themed food truck a success. She loves everything about her business and is enjoying having a constantly thriving work day... until the competition parks his rival food truck a little too close for comfort.
Cameron Donnelly makes no apologies about going after what he wants, full speed ahead. When the uptight competition approaches him about "rules" and "schedules", he makes it very clear that he doesn't have time to worry about hurt feelings when it comes to business.
Two brunch spots, one war that is about to get ugly... and the two rivals who can't seem to stop thinking about each other...

You've Got Male was an entertaining and super cute story set in the world of a major food truck competition. With a culinary style war that is waged between people who love to hate each other, the food isn't the only thing that ends up being served hot.
Zoey is a classically trained chef who has turned her love for exquisite food into an accessible commodity. Content with the growth of her business, when her comfortable success is threatened by a loud and brash competitor, she figures reasoning with him will help him see the light... boy, is she wrong.
Cam has spent his time in the cooking trenches and he is ready to make something of himself, on his own terms. So when his business is the slightest bit threatened, he overreacts instead of taking Zoey's ideas into consideration. But, by the time his rivalry with Zoey is in full force, he starts to second guess his declaration to fight fire with fire.
Zoey was such an amazing woman. I admired her attempts to be an adult about her issues with Cam. She was always straightforward and refrained from playing too dirty. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for Cam. He was such an unlikable character throughout the entire book, that I just couldn't bring myself to feel any kind of warmth for him whatsoever.
I really enjoyed this storyline and the writing in this story. Fun and sexy, if the male lead had been a lot less of a clueless jerk, I definitely would have loved this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.
I always love a book by Lila Monroe and this read doesn’t disappoint. Zoey operates a food truck in the Bay Area but she has competition on her hands with Cam who muscles in on her territory. The heat in the truck gets turned up a few notches between the two. But as the saying goes all’s fair in love & war! It’s full of banter, humour & chemistry between the two. A def one click for any rom com avid reader.
I love Lila Monroe’s romantic comedies, and I’m really enjoying the Chick Flick Club series. Clever titles playing on cult-classic romantic comedy films, these books follow a trio of best friends as they find love in the often disastrous, occasionally delicious San Francisco dating scene. These books are not simply the author’s spin on each story's similarly titled movie, either. They’re all originally and creatively plotted, enemies-to-lovers romances.
Both food truck chefs specializing in brunch, Cam and Zoey's relationship started out with more antagonism than attraction, though there definitely was that, too. In the cutthroat San Francisco food truck scene, there was an understanding among the different food truck owners not to horn in on each other's spots. Only Cam, new to the scene, didn’t get the memo, but even worse was once Zoey educated him about their agreement, he simply didn’t care about their rules. He was in this business to build his name and chase his dream, but in trampling over the understanding amongst his peers, he was poaching more than eggs on his truck when he regularly pulled up next to Zoey to fight for the same customers. Thus began a back-and-forth, war of the roses style turf battle of pranks, not punches.
Monroe throws an interesting twist into their relationship that kind of changes everything, and I absolutely loved it. It didn’t matter if these two were taunting each other or tearing each other’s clothes off, their chemistry sizzled like the bacon in their respective frying pans. They bridged the gap from enemies to friends to lovers naturally and were well on their way to building something real and lasting when a huge food competition that they both want to win draws near, and they learn that they're both finalists in the same category. But it's not the fact that they’re competing against each other that threatens to derail everything that is building between them.
Monroe served up an amusing, entertaining romance here with a fun, flirty and fresh plot. Laugh-out-loud funny and fanning myself sexy, You’ve Got Male by Lila Monroe gets 4.5 smooches from me!
